Mthimkulu Stimulation Centre for disabled children in Soweto, South Africa

Our team

We have a wonderful and dedicated team of 13 staff.

Leah Kunene,
Founder & Care Mother

“My goal is to encourage and advance child care services for disabled children in Soweto. This place is my life. I love to help these children.”

Sam Kunene,
Founder

“We dream of being able to offer our services to more of the vulnerable children and overwhelmed parents out there who need our help.”

Siza Kunene,
Stimulation Therapist

“My dream is to open up the centre as a residential operation so that the children can stay here overnight where they get the best care.”

Jabu Kunene,
Driver & Maintenance

“I'm on the road by 5:30am every day and finish my two rounds of collections by 8:15am. In the evening I drop all the kids at home again. It would be wonderful to have a bigger vehicle so that I could fit all the children in at one time.”

Zandela/Maureen,
Care Mother & Stimulation Therapist

“I love to work with these children. I miss them when I am not here. The children here are very sensitive. They respond amazingly to loving touch.”

Lerato,
Administration

“I am inspired by my aunt and uncle, Leah and Sam, and love working here.”

Joanna,
Chairperson & Mother

“I would not cope on my own as a mother of a challenged child without this centre.”

Thembisa,

“I love to see the children try new things.”
